Pastor Terry Harris has a passion for studying, preaching and teaching the word of God. His love for God’s people and compassion for the lost both locally and abroad can be seen throughout his life and his ministry.
Pastor Harris is a native of Conway, South Carolina. He accepted Christ at the age of thirteen at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Aynor, South Carolina where he served as Junior Deacon. November 1992, Pastor Harris accepted his calling into the ministry. He was license and ordained as a Baptist minister under Senior Pastor, Ferris A. Coleman. He attended Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, Virginia where he pursed a degree in Criminal Justice. He was employed by the city of Hampton Virginia as a Police Officer where he received several awards and citations, including Outstanding Young Man of American. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Studies with honors (Cum Laude) from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Pastor Harris also has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theological Studies from the University of Renfrew in Tampa, Florida. He has continued his education by completing biblical studies, at Greensboro Bible Institute, Shaw University School of Divinity and Bethlehem Bible College.
Pastor Harris attended Duke University Divinity School in Durham, NC where he received an Associate of Arts Degree in Divinity. Pastor Harris has certifications in level 1 Clinical Pastoral Education from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He also, has certifications in Foundational, Standard, Advanced Churches Ministries and Evangelical Training. Pastor Harris had served the United Methodist Church as Senior Pastor for 10 years. He was honored to serve as an Associate Pastor under the leadership of Ferris A. Coleman at New Birth Baptist Church in Burlington NC. After several years of dedicated service to the start and growth of a number of successful ministries, which included a Hispanic Ministry. PastorHarris has a strong determination to reach the lost for Christ, he fulfills his calling from II Timothy 2:2: “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
In addition, Pastor Harris extended his pastoral and teaching experience to include: Community Outreach, Workshops, Mentor for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Prison Ministry and NAACP Vice President. Pastor Harris is united in marriage to MichelleHarris.
